I put together a studio lighting system because this was one of the most puzzling aspects of photography to me in the beginning and I really wanted to figure it out. I did quite a bit of research and decided that I wanted as much power (in watt seconds) as I could get for my money. The obvious choice was to buy Norman gear that was about 20 years old. It took a couple months to get everything together but in the end I acquired everything you see here for a little more than $2000. I had the power pack for a few weeks before I got the first strobe head. I remember plugging it in for the first time and pressing the test button to fire it. The sound of the pop it made was louder than I expected, and the flash was very bright. I got this feeling that I was dealing with a pretty powerful photographic tool.
